The story so far
I landed a two week internship with Seven Brisbane during my second year at QUT and grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
I was kindly asked back as a casual sports journo on the weekends – something which I continued throughout the course of my degree.
After finishing Uni I freelanced up at Seven Maroochydore for a couple of months, before getting the call of a lifetime.
Seven’s Ben Davis had talked me up for a position going with ESPN in the United States. A few phone calls later I was on my way to the USA as an Associate Producer working for America’s largest sports broadcaster. Needless to say I had absolute ball during my three years there – covering all types of sport across the country.
Eventually I thought it was time to cement myself back home and again found myself freelancing – this time for WIN in Bundaberg.
From Wide Bay I moved to the Central West of NSW as a Sports Reporter/Presenter at Prime Orange in 2010. I lasted just over a year in the country, before I came to the conclusion I had done my time regionally. Through the contacts I had now developed I finally managed to bag a metro job.
For almost three years I found myself reporting and producing all things sport in Sydney for Nine News and also the Today Show.
Then in 2013 the opportunity arose to return home to Brisbane as a full-time sports reporter and have since found myself behind the desk reading sport on a regular basis. Working alongside legends like Andrew Slack, Ian Healy and The King – Wally Lewis, and to be doing what I love – I can honestly say I am living the dream.
