The Brownlow might be all about honouring the best and fairest on the football field. But it’s the best and fairest of the opposite sex on show, outside the ceremony.

Jessica Rendall reports.

For the wives and partners of AFL stars, Brownlow Day begins early.

Hair, makeup and that outfit must be “Red Carpet” perfect.

There were bright colours, light colours and dark colours.

And lots, of sparkles!

Josh Kennedy’s wife Ana glowed in gold With plenty of matching arm bling!

Charlotte Viney bucked the trend with a Swarovski-inspired short jumpsuit, complete with billowy over-skirt.

The Lions’ Lachie Neale might not have won the medal, but his wife Jules wowed the fashion critics with a vibrant violet outfit, styled fittingly for Spring.

Mardi Dangerfield easily outshone her Brownlow hot-tip hubby.

While Patrick Cripps’ big task was not to step on the giant train on his partner’s emerald green creation.

Nat Fyfe and his partner Elli made a stunning couple, just as well his medal tip proved wrong.

Nat Fyfe, Brownlow Winner: “We didn’t win as many games so probably not going to poll as much.”

On the Red Carpet though, all the ladies were winners.
