The facility will be home to both the Wallaroos and the Queensland Reds, with a capacity of 10 to 12 thousand spectators.

David Hanham, QRU CEO: “I just also want to thank everyone that’s worked tirelessly over the past five or six years to get this vision in place and to have government support is a huge milestone for the organisation.”

In NRL, the West Tigers will play the Storm this week.

Both teams are celebrating big wins in the Magic Round.

Storm thrashed Parramatta 63-10 while the Tigers ran over the Panthers.

Halfback Luke Brooks was a stand out player.

Michael McGuire, West Tigers Coach: “I think there are a lot of good things happening in Brooksie’s game which is gonna lift him to higher levels. He’s been doing that week in week out.”

Finally AFL star Gary Ablett Junior has once again been cleared by match review after a second striking charge against Kangaroo Sam Wright.

While some are defending Ablett, many question the consistency of the match review system.

Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe also was cleared of high contact against Tom Lynch on Sunday.
