In sport, the Broncos’ big win against the Rabbitohs last week was not without a price, with another key player injured. Coach Wayne Bennett must now fill the hole in his squad, before the Broncos take on the Bulldogs.

Dummy-half Josh McGuire injured his elbow against the Rabbitohs, and will stay on the sidelines on Thursday night.

The 10th-placed Broncos are now without a natural dummy-half, with first-choice Andrew McCullough recovering from an injured elbow.

Anthony Milford, Broncos Five-Eighth: “Everyone knows the way Macca is and he’s doing everything off the field he can to make sure he’s right for the game.”

At training today, coach Wayne Bennett played both Todd Murphy and Kodi Nikorima in the position.

Alex Glenn, Broncos Centre: “Yeah well Toddy’s been with us for many years now so we’re comfortable with him fitting into the squad if that’s the case.”

Teen prodigy Payne Haas looks set to be included in Thursday’s squad.

The 18-year-old prop impressed viewers, and his teammates.

Anthony Milford, Broncos Five-Eighth: “Yeah I think he went real well. Honestly think the best is yet to come out of Payne, and the more regular first grade games he plays the better he’ll get.”

Having lost their last two fixtures, the Bulldogs will be looking to notch up a much needed win over a weakened Broncos side.

Bennett’s boys play their next four games at home, and that home support could make them tough to beat.
