Essendon defender Michael Hurley confessed the Bombers were like deers in the headlights during yesterday’s match.

Coach John Worsfold and his players are still searching for answers after their fourth loss in five games.

Michael Hurley, Essendon defender: “Obviously we’re not playing some great footy. We’re obviously not overly confident but there’s obviously a few things to work on and we’ll try and do that.”

Essendon takes on Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

And on Saturday the Lions got off to a rocky start against the Giants.

Brisbane couldn’t get anything going offensively, kicking just one six in the first two terms.

Half back Daniel Rich made an impressive return from injury for Brisbane in the third quarter.

Commentator: “He’s a beautiful timer of the ball Rich, isn’t he? An efficient kick.”

But he still couldn’t get the margin below 26 points.

While the Lions fought back in the final term, it was too little, too late.
