With Greg Inglis celebrating his 250th game the Rabbitohs were hoping for a fairy tale victory.
And an early Cody Walker try made that look likely.
But a stunning team try by the Broncos set the tone for a strong attacking performance.
The win moves the Broncos back into a highly competitive top eight, now on equal points with three other teams.
Coach Wayne Bennett said that the team’s clean performance was what made the difference.
Wayne Bennett: Broncos Coach: “59% ball control in the first half and the second half we had one or two errors, that’s all we had. So that was the difference for us. We didn’t get that right we wouldn’t have won the game.”
But the win came at a cost, Josh McGuire leaving the field with ankle problems.
Injury fears were confirmed today when; McGuire arrived home with an ankle brace.
Kodi Nikorima, Broncos Hooker: “He’s walking in a moonboot at the moment but not too sure what the go is with Moose at the moment. He’s off scans today. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious because he’s a big part of this team.”
The Broncos will face the Bulldogs next week as they fight to hold their place on the ladder.
