There’s plenty of footy news. The Swans are battling multiple injuries, the Sea Eagles plea for media positivity, while in the A-League, Sydney’s confident ahead of this weekend’s semi-final.

A bruised heel means Sydney Swans star player Lance Franklin will be sitting out of Saturday’s clash against Geelong.

Midfielder Dan Hannebery is also on the bench for the weekend match due to groin soreness.

The coach is blaming the injures on the hard ground at the West Coast Eagles’ home stadium.

John Longmire, Sydney Swans Coach: “Look it can be a reasonable conclusion to be drawn from that and our boys were a bit sore afterwards.”

The Swans have concerns this won’t be the only game these players will miss.

In the NRL, After weeks of controversy on and off the field, senior Sea Eagles players are hitting back against the media making a plea for positive coverage around their boys.

Akuila Uate, Sea Eagles Winger: “We get dragged down by you guys and to stay positive you guys can actually help us. I feel for whoever gets involved because we’ve got feelings as well.”

The club has been battling a salary cap scandal and public player feuds.

And finally, Sydney FC have no fears heading into their semi-final match against Melbourne Victory this weekend.

Sydney’s won the last eight games against Melbourne.

Alex Brosque, Sydney FC Captain: “Look no doubt it’s on their mind, it’s definitely on our minds that we’ve had it over them the past couple of games now. In front of our home crowd with our fans there, with our home record, we are very confident.”
