The Brisbane Broncos trained today in particularly hot weather. They’re preparing for Thursday’s clash with the Rabbitohs in Sydney.
Both teams are looking for the win.
Rory Scott reports.
Wayne Bennett and his Broncos are looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat against the Melbourne Storm last Friday night.
Brisbane’s star hooker Andrew McCollough sustained an injury during the match that has him sitting on the sidelines for Thursday’s game.
Sam Thaiday, Broncos Prop: “He will continue to grow and build as a player and yeah, he’ll be definitely missed.”
It’s a major setback to the Broncos lineup as the Rabbitohs hooker, Robbie Farah is renowned as one of the best in the league in his position.
Kodi Nikorima was training in the hooker position during today’s session and could be up for a tough match on Thursday.
Sam Thaiday, Broncos Prop: “If he does have to play in that position he will definitely have to muscle up for sure.”
Thursday’s game against the in form South Sydney Rabbitohs is a great opportunity for Jack Bird to regain his playing confidence.
The Broncos five-eighth is looking to step up after multiple poor performances at the start of the season.
Jack Bird, Broncos Five-Eighth: “He just tells I’m a football player like he said before, back my instincts and play football, run hard, tackle hard and that’s something I have to start doing again and obviously I haven’t been doing that so hopefully this Thursday night I can start doing that again.”
Both Brisbane and South Sydney have had up and down results early in the season, and both teams are looking for a big win this Thursday.
