Police are investigating a ute fire north of Sydney which put three men in hospital. It was one of a number of serious incidents on our roads.

Mark Zita reports.

An exploding can of tyre cleaner caused this fire near Nirimba on the New South Wales’ Central Coast.

Two brothers and a friend were trapped in the ute, with emergency services rescuing them a short time later.

The driver sustained burns to 20 per cent of his body, and all three are being treated at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Meanwhile, a woman is fighting for life after an excavator was involved in a hit-and-run at Bowen Hills early this morning.

She’s undergone emergency surgery, and is in a critical condition.

Police are talking to the fifty-eight year old driver.

And in Windsor, a man was hit by a car when crossing Bowen Street.

The 70 year old man was struck by an S-U-V at around seven o’clock last night.

He’s in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
