The red-hot favourite never looked in doubt polling a record 36 votes.

At training this morning it was still sinking in.

On the cusp of the greatest individual season in AFL history Martin didn’t forget those who’ve propelled him into one of the game’s best.

Dustin “Dusty” Martin, Brownlow winner: “I left it on my bedside table. I’ll probably give it to mum to keep at her house.”

Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield was three votes behind in last night’s count.

However he was ineligible for the Best and Fairest award after being suspended in round 19.

26-year-old Martin is on a high with his club Richmond to play Adelaide in this Saturday’s AFL Grand Final.

Dustin “Dusty” Martin, Brownlow winner: “As I said it’s been really surreal, the last couple of weeks. We are enjoying every moment of it. And hopefully we can go one better this week.”

‘Dusty’ as he is affectionately known, achieved a record 11 best-on-ground performances this year.

Deciding who was best dressed on the red carpet was a harder decision with the player’s wives and girlfriends stealing the spotlight.

A baby bump was this year’s hottest accessory.

Some even causing last minute outfit changes.

Annabel Gray, Wife of Robbie Gray: “I owe it all to Kyah and the team at One Day. I went in at 8 o’clock this morning and it all just came together.”

All eyes now turn to this Saturday as Dusty’s Tigers look to win the club’s first Premiership in 35 years.
