Most animals born in captivity have very little opportunity to see much of the outside world.

But that’s not the case for one very special giraffe from Australia Zoo.

Sixteen month old Ellie has just finised a marathon 4,500Km trip from the Sunshine Coast, across the Nullabor, to Perth Zoo.

She arrived with her very own team of veterinarians and zoo keepers.

The final stretch was through a special ‘green light’ corridor.

Heavier city traffic could have stressed the giant animal.

She’ll join two adult giraffes that came to Perth from Taronga Zoo.

Ellie will be a vital part of the Australasian giraffe breeding program, when she reaches maturity.
