The Broncos have arrived in Melbourne for the grand final qualifier against the Storm.
The home team is hot favourite.
But Brisbane’s been boosted by the return of their skipper.
Georgia Garland reports.
Back at Red Hill for the first time in weeks, Darius Boyd’s presence lifted his team mates spirits.
His Coach says the star fullback is fully fit, despite missing the last two games through injury.
Wayne Bennett, Broncos Coach: “He’ll have the right mindset, yeah, it’s you know, he’s handled it well, he’s got all of our support, so, yeah, it’s uh, he’ll be good.”
Corey Oates is also set to make a comeback following a nasty head-knock in the game against Penrith.
Bennett says there was no pressure on the winger to return for the qualifier.
Wayne Bennett, Broncos Coach: “It was in the hands of the doctor, the doctors made the decisions, it’s now in Corey’s hands whether he wants to play or not. He wants to play and that’s the way it’s going to be.”
Bennett hit back at critics who believe Oates shouldn’t play because of his head-knock.
Wayne Bennett, Broncos Coach: “There’s no one concerned more for the players welfare than this club is okay, so I’m not really interested in anybody else’s opinion outside the club.”
But the veteran coach was pleased to see so many Broncos fans at the final training session.
Broncos Supporter: “most definitely, Broncos number one.”
It’ll be a hard task beating premiership favourites the Melbourne Storm, but Broncos supporters have no doubt they can pull it off.
Broncos fans: “Go Broncos.”
Broncos supporter: “Who do you go for? Cowboys!”
If the Broncos win they’ll be headed straight for the grand final against either the Sydney Roosters or North Queensland Cowboys.
