Carlton is the first to confirm Bryce Gibbs has requested a move to the Adelaide Crows.
Gibbs still has three years remaining on his Carlton contract.
Reporter: “Would you have preferred to announce it yourself or Bryce announce it rather than another footy club?”
Andrew McKay, Carlton Head of Football: “I think it would’ve been more important to work through the issues with Bryce first.”
Another Carlton player, Zach Tuohy is officially off contract and is now gearing up to join Geelong on a four year contract.
Geelong is still expressing their interest in Brett Deledio, despite Richmond’s desperate plea to offload Steven Motlop to free up salary space.
Dan Richardson, Richmond Football Manager: “Brett’s expressed his interest in Geelong as well, but at this stage we wouldn’t be letting Brett go for nothing that’s for sure.”
In League news, Johnathan Thurston wants to see the NRL expand.
He says Perth is ready.
Johnathan Thurston, Kangaroos Player: “To be able to bring in international footy here is a big bonus so hopefully in the not too distant future we’ll see a national NRL team here in Perth.”
Perth will host a State of Origin game in 2019.
