Cricket Australia says the newly designed modern day cricket helmet would not have prevented Hughes’ death.

It had ordered a review of the incident in 2014.

Hughes died when he was struck on the neck by a cricket ball in a Sheffield Shield match.

In AFL, Essendon have signed David Myers for a further three years, even though he’s one of 12 players banned from playing over a doping scandal.

John Worsfold, Essendon Coach: “Yeah we got obviously a very clear pathway on where we are heading, and a big part of it is David Myers, and we’re wrapped that’s all happened and taken place.”

In Rugby League the Parramatta Eels prop, Junior Paulo, could face sanctions.

He allegedly donned head gear, used a fake name and played for third grade Sydney rugby union club, Oatley.

Paulo’s brother-in-law coaches the side.

That decision has provided more controversy for a club reeling from salary cap breaches.
