Chris Waller boasts a trio of fine racehorses in the world-class field with Kermadec, Preferment and the only mare in the race, Winx.
Chris Waller, Trainer: “Winx could just be a superstar and that’s the reason why Hugh Bowman’s riding her over Preferment. What’s she’s done in her last four wins in Queensland and Sydney has been quite phenomenal.”
And speaking of winners, The Australian Netball team is just one game away from securing the Constellation Cup, after beating New Zealand 58-48 in Auckland.
The score was tied at half time, then Australia ran away with it scoring the final seven goals.
Another New Zealand team, this time their cricketers, were welcomed by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull before meeting the Prime Minister’s Eleven.
Their Captain Brendon McCullum has been ruled out of the game, but passed on a cheeky joke from across the Tasman.
Brendon McCullum, New Zealand Captain: “The right honourable Prime Minister of Australia, Sir Malcolm Turnbull. John Key told me to say that one.”
The New Zealanders will play three tests against Australia beginning next month.
