It’s Wright’s first win this year.

She scored two excellent rides in the final, to defeat Hawaiian Tatiana Weston-Webb.

The twenty-one-year-old said it was a very special win for her naming her brother Owen, also a surfer, as a big influence.

Taylor Wright, Roxy Pro Winner: “And this is, it feels so much more like, I don’t know, it’s so fulfilled and Owen, he just said to me ‘welcome back’.”

Reigning world champion Gabriel Medina took out the men’s event, the Quiksilver Pro.

The Brazilian was just too good for Aussie Bede Durbidge.

Fellow Australian, and current world number one, Mick Fanning, hangs on to his top spot in the World Surf League rankings, despite being beaten in the quarter finals in France.
