NRL champions the Rabbitohs continued their celebrations today, with a parade in Sydney.
Players and team officials took an open bus through the streets to the roar of cheering fans.
Chris Thompson reports.
The journey took them on a 15 kilometre trip from Redfern to Sydney Town Hall amongst a sea of red and green.
It’s the first Rabbitohs Premiership win since 1971 breaking a forty-three year drought.
The Mayor of Sydney presented the team with the key to the City and called the team “great heroes”.
Clover Moore, Mayor of City of Sydney: “Congratulations to the players, and the coaching staff, and to Russell Crowe.”
The team also received the key to Randwick, presented by Mayor Ted Seng.
Part-owner of the team actor Russell Crowe could soon be joined by James Packer as he today announced his interest in becoming involved with the team.
James Packer, Businessman: “I feel very fortunate to be even able to have the opportunity to participate in something like this.”
Players and fans are unlikely to stop celebrating anytime soon.
