Burgess is sporting an impressive shiner today.

His cheek bone fractured in the first tackle of Sunday’s grand final.

The Rabbitohs’ forward has only just seen the match.

Sam Burgess, South Sydney Forward: “I went to my girlfriend’s house last night and she had recorded all of the news. I watched all of the news and I got pretty emotional all over again.”

Burgess is the first non-Australian to win the prestigious Clive Churchill medal, as man of the match.

His efforts were crucial for the Bunnies Rabbitohs, as they went on to defeat the Bulldogs 30 to 6.

In A.F.L the Gold Coast Suns have managed to recruit Sydney premiership star Nick Malceski.

The ex-Swans player secured a three year contract with the Queensland side.

The 30-year-old was a key player during the 2012 AFL Grand Final.

And as predicted, Port’s Assistant Coach, Phil Walsh, is the new head coach of the Adelaide Crows.

He replaces sacked Adelaide coach, Brenton Sanderson.
