Police have arrested a man after a dramatic highway car chase west of Brisbane.

The 32 year old was finally apprehended after abandoning his vehicle near Gatton, and fleeing on foot.

It started in Brisbane and continued for half an hour.

The man’s alleged to have been involved in a violent burglary at the Sunshine Coast earlier today.

In a stolen vehicle with a motorbike in the tray, there were detours onto dirt roads and dangerous near misses.

Finally the ute hit an embankment, forcing the driver to continue on foot.

Vox 1: “I just saw this young guy racing up past here, but I’d previously heard the sirens.”

The man ran through bushland before he was caught in a fence and arrested by police.

Investigations are continuing.
