We’re set to see two very big games this weekend.

In AFL the Freemantle Dockers and the Hawthorn Hawks are preparing to fight hard for the title.

Meanwhile in league the South Sydney Rabittohs are determined to not go down in their preliminary without a fight.

Jim Malo reports.

The Dockers remain confident that they can take down the Hawks this weekend, claiming the grand final win for Fremantle.

The Freo boys think they’re capable of bringing their trademark defence to the MCG and slown down their opponents who are widely reagrded as the number one attackers in the game.

Michael Barlow, Fremantle Midfielder: “We’ve got a great system in place to be able to do that on all grounds. We have real confidence in our structure and our purpose.”

Also in AFL, Justin Leppitsch has been selected as the new coach of the Brisbane Lions.

He replaces Michael Voss who was controversially sacked.

Justin Leppitsch, New Brisbane Lions Coach: “It’s a bit ironic that the two times that once I was ready as a player and now a coach that it’s the same destinations. So I can’t be happier, obviously I know the landscape in Brisbane really well.”

In the NRL, the Rabbitohs are more than motivated to take down the Sea Eagles in the Preliminary Final.

They were knocked out in the same game last year and are keen to go all the way this.

Michael Maguire, Rabbitohs Coach: “We are a different team now we’ve got a lot more experience, particuarly in this arena and a number of players coming in to us, I think there’s a lot of factors that go into our motivations going into Friday’s game.”
