Jimmy Gunawan is the first person in the world to buy the iPhone five S.

He queued in Sydney’s CBD from midday Thursday (Sept 19) to secure that number one spot.

It was a 24 hour wait for Mr Gunawan.

But was it worth it?

Jimmy Gunawan, First Buyer: “Hard to explain, really excited, really dramatic, I nearly cried.”

Mr Gunawan bought two of the Five-S iPhones in the new gold colour.

One for himself and one for his mum.

Australia’s east coast stores were the first in the world to officially sell the new iPhones.

About five hundred people in the line camped overnight.

There were people in sleeping bags and Apple staff gave out water during the wait.
