The controversy over the Cowboys’ defeat continues, while the Bulldogs finals hopes also were dashed by Newcastle, twenty-two to six.

Star Canterbury player, Ben Barba, was injured minutes into the second half, officially ending his illustrious career.

Star Bulldog Ben Barba was injured ten minutes into the second half he was stretchered off the field with a recurrence of his ankle injury.

His departure also ended Canterbury’s hopes of winning the game despite leading six nil at the ninth minute.

They failed to score again until well into the second half.

Newcastle grew in confidence throughout the match dominating Canterbury and securing a spot in the semi finals.

The Knights will take on the Storm in Melbourne on Saturday.

The Roosters also have won a place in the finals after edging out Manly in a four nil win on Saturday.

This is the sixth time this season the Roosters have managed to hold a team scoreless.

Coach Trent Robinson commended the Sea Eagles on their efforts.

Trent Robinson, Sydney Roosters Coach: “They’re a courageous team that’s what they do they know how to win they put us under a lot of pressure tonight.”

The Roosters will get a week off after their win.

In the other semi final clash, Manly take on Cronulla for a finals berth.
