it’s the sight and sound Brisbane can expect to see a lot more of in June.
Footy fever has hit Brisbane with the Wallabies and Queensland Reds playing the British and Irish Lions at Suncorp Stadium.
Brisbane Mayor Graham Quirk and some familiar sporting faces including Darren Lockyer joined forces to promote team support under the banner of “Show Your Colours”.
Graham Quirk, Brisbane Mayor: “This will be a terrific boost to our economy also. We’re expecting to see thousands of visitors come to our city. Seventeen and a half million dollar of economic boost to Brisbane.”
Also next month, you can see two Broncos home games, the Reds versus Melbourne Rebels, the second State of Origin match at Suncorp and the Brisbane Lions up against the Geelong Cats at the Gabba.
Graham Quirk, Brisbane Mayor: “But it’s going to be bigger this year, I think the British Irish Lions coming to our city will add another boost of people from the regions of Queensland state and overseas.”
For the month of June to show your colours, you can spend as little as nine dollars or deck yourself up completely for almost three hundred dollars so you can support every team.
The football kicks off on June the first with the Reds versus Melbourne Rebels at Suncorp Stadium.
