A Melbourne taxi driver has been seriously injured in a hit and run early this morning.
Police believe the car driver may have deliberately targeted his victim.

Around 3.30am the man was walking along a footpath when he was struck by a vehicle, believed to be a white Commodore.
He suffered serious head injuries.
Sergent Michael Hughes, Victoria Police: “We believe he’s been carried about forty, fifty metres along the footpath before he’s been thrown onto the roadway, and the driver of the vehicle has driven off.”
James Roberts, a teacher, pulled the victim from the roadway, just as the vehicle did a u-turn and returned to the scene.
James Roberts, Witness: “Car came past a couple of times pretty fast and we kind of just scrambled out of the way.”
Police are still searching for the vehicle involved.
And in Sydney, A year seven girl was robbed at gunpoint last night, while walking home.
A man produced a firearm, held it at her head and demanded she hand over her possessions.
Taylah Gresham, Victim: “I just burst into tears and then I was scared that like he would turn back around and start following me.”
The 12 year old ran home and called police immediately.
The man has not yet been found.
