It was obvious last night that Singleton was eager to put the Waterhouse scandal behind him.
He says he’s received legal advice not to speak before Monday’s inquiry, but did confirm Rugby League great, Andrew Johns and former jockey, Allan Robinson were the “trusted friends” who contacted him over the condition of his horse.
John Singleton, Horse Owner: “Yeah, they’re both the people who rang me, yes.”
And now, Racing New South Wales have seized all telephone and betting records, after Waterhouse allegedly predicted that Singleton’s champion would not win the All Aged Stakes.
Allan Robinson, Former Jockey: “Did Andrew do anything wrong tellin’ my mate? Did my mate do anything wrong ringin’ me? Did I do anything wrong ringin’ Singo? Please.”
And now all the Waterhouse family are under investigation.
As for Gai, Singleton will choose a new trainer, but has some regrets.
John Singleton, Horse Owner: “She’s a wonderful lady and probably the best trainer in the world.”
