The Brisbane Roar have bounced back from last weekend’s defeat to Perth Glory with a 5-0 drubbing of Melbourne Victory.

The champions showed they’ll still be a premiership force this year despite losing their coach in the off season.

After leading the Roar to back-to-back titles, Victory Coach Ange Postecoglou suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of his former club.

Postecoglou accused several Roar players of making distasteful comments about him in the lead-up to the match, saying he no longer has anything to do with the club.

Matt Smith, Roar Captain: “As far as we’re concerned we wish obviously Ange and the Melbourne Victory all the best for the season but we need to do what’s right for us now.”

The Suncorp Stadium crowd was particularly vocal in their heckling of the former Roar coach, letting off a flare and forcing play to be stopped twice in the second half.
