For thoroughbred punters and spectators all eyes will be focused on this Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas.

And the current odds on favorite for the big race is Gai Waterhouse’s unbeaten colt Pierro.

Aiming for his ninth win in a row, this morning the star colt had one final workout at Flemington before Saturday’s one million dollar race.

Gai Waterhouse, Trainer – Pierro: “I hope we can keep it going, I hope the momentum will keep going, you know, it’s a long carnival, we’ve got six weeks ahead of us.”

If he wins this weekend, he’ll also become the fifth horse to complete the Golden Slipper-Caulfield Guineas double.

Despite drawing an outside barrier in the eight-horse field, even his rivals admit he’s been hard to rein in.

John O’Shea, Trainer – Ashokan: “Don’t worry about Pierro mate, he seems to get around anything, he’s that good.”

The Guineas is part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, set to culminate with the Melbourne Cup in less than a month’s time.
