Concerns are growing over missing Melbourne woman Jill Meagher after a string of women have come forward claiming they’ve been attacked in the area.
Police are also worried that her handbag found in a nearby laneway may have been planted.
Kate Leonard-Jones reports.
Jill was last seen leaving Brunswick’s Bar Etiquette in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The laneway near Hope Street where her handbag was found on Monday remains cordoned off but police are yet to discover how it got there.
The last call she made was to her brother.
Edith McKeon, Jill’s Mother: “Two am on Saturday morning and she sounded worried, there was people in the background.”
Jill’s mobile is still missing and turned off.
A number of women have come forward through a Facebook page, set up to help find Jill, to tell of recent scares in the same area, including an alleged abduction attempt.
Jill’s family desperately want her home.
Edith McKeon, Jill’s Mother: “Any information possible could help so please ring.”
Anyone with information should call crime stoppers.
