Getting down to business.

On the top of the Premier’s list is delivering on his promise to lower the cost of living.

Campbell Newman, Qld Premier: “Our position as a government has got a very long agenda. There’s a lot of things we said we would be undertaking.”

The new Cost of Living Bill includes freezing the standard electricity tariff, saving families an average of $120 this year.

The government also will freeze family vehicle registration for its first term.

Commuters are also in the government’s sights, with the next two scheduled public transport fare increases halved.

They’ll also be able to travel for free after nine Go Card trips.

Given the scale of his electoral victory the Premier says he’s been given a mandate to fast-track certain legislation. That means not everything will be passed by the parliamentary committee.

Campbell Newman, Qld Premier: “We went to the big committee, the people of Queensland.”

The new measures will come into effect on July 1st.
