It was a big weekend across all football codes.

The Broncos kicked off the action on Friday night, when they dominated the Titans at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane claiming a 26-6 win.

Wet conditions failed to hamper the Broncos on their home turf who soared to a 20-0 half-time lead against the Gold Coast Titans.

Friday’s impressive result is the sixth straight win for the Broncos.

The Cowboys didn’t fare as well, suffering 20-16 loss to the Rabbitohs on Saturday when they secured an early upper hand and went on to prove too strong for North Queensland.

The Tigers held on to claim a nail-biting one-point victory over the Eels yesterday.

At one stage it was 31-nil but Parramatta scored an astonishing 30 points in the last 13 minutes to come just short of the mark.

In AFL, the 300 game milestone for Brisbane midfielder Simon Black turned into a nightmare, as the Lions went down to the Geelong Cats 41 to 79 at a rain sodden Gabba.

The game was virtually over at half-time, with the score at 47-7.

In Rugby Union the Queensland Reds gained a maiden overseas victory despite a strong home town crowd in Auckland.

The 23-11 win was a much needed confidence boost for the Reds, as they face the daunting Crusaders next week, who have won five of their last six matches.
