Queenslander Samantha Stosur has finally ended her losing streak against Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova.

Guillaume Benoist reports.

It took seven years and nine games for Samantha Stosur to defeat Sharapova with a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the WTA Tour Championships in Istanbul.

Samantha Stosur, Australian Tennis Player: “It’s a big thing for me. You don’t want to loose to someone 10 times in a row. So I tried to come up here and do a few things a little bit different and thankfully it paid off.”

Stosur plays Victoria Azarenka from Belarus tonight and if she wins that match she’ll play in Saturday’s semi-finals.

In Rugby League, Josh Hoffman and Josh McGuire have re-signed with the Broncos for four more years.

Both players have praised the club as a family orientated place, that makes it a great team to play for.

Josh McGuire, Broncos Player: “I’ve been in the club since 2005 since I was 15 so I’m just like at my home here at the club.”

Josh Hoffman, Broncos Player: “You know the Broncos is the club I wanted to stay in. You know like I said it was lot easier making that decision with Hook as the coach.”
