Youth attempts to drown police dog in getaway

A 17-year-old man attempted to drown a police dog when he was restrained by the dog at Urraween last night.

The Urangan man, and a 16-year-old accomplice, tried to evade arrest when they were caught trespassing and allegedly throwing bottles at residents who tried to stop them.

Convicted corrupt Nuttall to address Qld Parliament

Former Queensland Government minister Gordon Nuttall will speak publicly in Parliament on Thursday for the first time since being convicted and jailed for corruption.

After two years in a maximum security prison, Nuttall will become the first criminal to address the Parliament.

Convicted drug smuggler Scott Rush has successfully appealed his death sentence in Indonesia but now faces life in prison.

It’s a bittersweet victory and his family say they’ll continue to campaign for his freedom.

Thurston sorry after Brisbane arrest

Rugby League star Jonathan Thurston is being asked to explain himself after being locked up and arrested on a public nuisance charge in Brisbane.

The Cowboys skipper was arrested early this morning following an alleged altercation with police.

Fine for owner of starved dog

The RSPCA had a win for animal welfare in getting justice for three dogs severely malnourished by their owner.

Thirty-six year old Sue-Ellen Hall from Petrie was found guilty to three counts of Breach of Duty in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.

Langer escapes conviction

Rugby league legend Allan Langer has been heavily fined and lost his licence for a lengthy period but he has escaped a conviction after pleading guilty to a drink driving charge in a Brisbane Court.

The former Queensland half back is currently suspended from his assistant coaching position at the Broncos over the incident and faces a club review of his future role.
