Federal cash for training more health workers

A Federal government injection of funds of more than $50-million will see an increase in clinical training here in Queensland.

Health Minister Nicola Roxon made the announcement as she toured the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.

Friday’s plan to reduce road deaths to zero

Ninety-five people have died on Queensland roads so far this year and road safety campaigners say that’s too many.

Road safety advocates took to the streets of Brisbane today to promote safer roads and officials say while the safety message is simple, it’s just not getting through to drivers.

Ipswich 300 for another three years

Racing fans in Queensland are in pole position for excitement with the Ipswich 300 to be held at Queensland Raceway for the next three years.

It’s hoped the joint initiative between the Queensland Government and Ipswich City Council can help with the city’s flood recovery effort.

Abbott backs whip release on Turnbull

Rest for Origin stars as Broncos do battle

AFL fans will have to wait until tomorrow night to get their first glimpse of the new Gold Coast stadium when the Suns take on Geelong. But tonight’s attention focuses on a League double header at Lang Park.

The Broncos will line up against Manly before the Titans tackle Canterbury. The Broncos will have to do it the hard way though with a number of origin stars not able to back up.

No change for Reds in weekend clash

They’ve done the job so far and Reds coach Ewen McKenzie has opted not to make any changes going into this weekend’s Super Rugby clash against the Crusaders at Lang Park.

Sorry Day for Stolen Generation

National Sorry Day celebrations took place across the country today with memorial services and community gatherings held in honour of the Stolen Generation.

The day celebrates the tabling of the ‘Bringing Them Home’ report in Federal Parliament 14 years ago.

Queensland have survived a fighting comeback from New South Wales to take a 16-12 win in the State of Origin series opener.
