Deadly virus claims another victim

Queensland Health is testing nine people who came in contact with a horse killed by Hendra virus earlier this week.

The horse was put down and buried on its Tewantin property. It’s the 41st horse to die from the Hendra virus since 1994.

Pool safety rules to cost owners

The Queensland Government has passed tough new laws that will force residents to register their swimming pools and pay for inspections.

The move comes as the state recorded the highest number of infant drownings in Australia last year.

Injured Lions to be ready for Crows match

Lions coach Michael Voss has revealed star duo Brendan Fevola and Jonathan Brown are suffering from abdominal injuries.

Another Aussie sporting hero was made overnight as Vic Darchinyan became the first boxer ever to win three IBO world titles.

The 30 year old champion won a brutal twelve round encounter against Filipino Eric Barcelona for the vacant bantamweight world title.
